Our Space
The Herbert H. Lehman Suite, located in the International Affairs Building (420 W. 118th St.) is an instructional and meeting space dedicated to the needs of the Lehman Center for American History. The space is primarily used to support the programming of the Lehman Center, the teaching of the Lehman Curator, and exhibitions derived from the American History collections held by the Rare Book & Manuscript Library (RBML).
The Lehman Suite can be requested by Columbia affiliates, Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm, excluding University holidays, unless otherwise agreed upon with the staff of the RBML. The space as described in this policy includes two meeting/seminar rooms and a gallery space.
Use of the Lehman Suite must comply with all applicable New York City and New York State building and fire codes, and with all rules and regulations of Columbia University’s Event Policies.
The Rare Book & Manuscript Library reserves the right to cancel events at any time, and limit or decline the use of spaces within the Lehman Suite, if conditions warrant.
Lehman Suite Details
The Herbert H. Lehman Suite is located on level 4 of the International Affairs Building (420 W. 118th St.), in rooms 406 A-C. The space includes a conference room, seminar room, gallery, and single use bathroom. The Fire Marshall limit for the Suite is 74.
- Conference room: 6 tables and 14 chairs; flat screen TV with HDMI connections for laptop; speaker/laptop podium. Conference table style set-up.
- Seminar room: 8 tables and 40 chairs; flat screen TV with HDMI connections for laptop; speaker/laptop podium. Supports both auditorium style and conference table style set-ups.
- Gallery: Open gallery space with exhibition featuring materials from the Rare Book & Manuscript Library. Tables and chairs can be moved into this space.
Procedures to Reserve the Lehman Suite
Requests for use of the Lehman Suite shall be submitted via the Facilities Use Agreement emailed to [email protected]
Costs/Fees
Users are required to pay room rental fees and all applicable expenses related to facilities use, including damage to any portion of the Facilities or heavy cleaning beyond normal post-event cleanup is required, as a result of the event.
